SPACE IN THE BIRD examines fashion beyond the body, questioning its relationship with utility, space, and sculpture. Inspired by the Brancusi v. United States ruling, the collection removes the human form entirely, allowing fabric to exist as an autonomous structure. Transparency, tension, compression, and geometric layering transform materials into rigid sculptural masses. An insect screen becomes a threshold, a crinoline forms a rational grid, plexiglass hangers contain knotted hair, and nylon creates a cage-like structure around the legs. Here, clothing is stripped of its original purpose and becomes an object shaped by space itself.
